    • "Services Held Today For Jerry D. Leak," obituary, unnamed paper dated 13 Mar 1968 located at the Warren County Genealogical Society
"Funeral services were held this morning for Pfc. Jerry D. Leak, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Leak of Pleasant Plain.
Leak was killed Feb. 28 in combat in Vietnam while on a convoy mission. He was a passenger in a convoy vehicle.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers, James of Lebanon and Charles at home; two sisters Barbara and Kathy, both at home; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Day, Pleasant Plain.
A former school friend of Leak's Sgt. Jack Chrisman, was serving with him at the time of his death. He was following in another convoy vehicle.
In a letter to his parents Sgt. Chrisman wrote, "... me and Jerry had seen it through everything together, Mom, that was really a hard one to take. I was three tracks behind his and he was up in front. Charlie put a grenade up on top of his track and Jerry got killed instantly. But I want to tell you Jerry was brave, he wasn't a coward to fight. We were fighting right together on the line a few times and I know."
Military services were held at the graveside at Graceland Cemetery, Milford."
    • "Vets reunite in Lebanon for first time since Vietnam War: They gather to honor a comrade who didn’t make it back," The Western Star (Lebanon, Ohio), Thursday, September 8, 2011, page 1
" . . . Lovins, a Hamilton native who’s lived in Sharonville for 30 years, said a rocket launcher was shot at the truck — “incinerating” the first guy it hit, blowing the fingers off another before striking Leak in the gut. Lovins was blown back from the blast, losing his rifle.
“Until this day,” Lovins said on Friday, “I never exactly knew what happened. I didn’t know how it finished.”
What he and Leak’s brother Jim never knew was that Jerry Leak was still alive when fellow Lebanon native Chrisman came upon Leak, a longtime friend from his hometown, in a ditch after the attack.
“He told me he didn’t want to die in a ditch,” said Chrisman, who held him in his arms as he died. . . ."
