      "Twenty-year-old Jack W. Napier of Franklin is dead.
      The youth died a week ago, Thursday, June 6, during hostile action at Vung Ro in South Vietnam according to word received by his wife and parents Monday morning.
      Napier's death brought the number of Franklin youths killed in Vietnam to four. The last to die was United States Marine Jonathon Lowman of 4398 Pennyroyal Road. That was a little over one year ago.
      The first Franklin youth killed in Vietnam was Stephen Young. The second was Ricky Gillum. Except for Gillum, all of the deaths have occured near the Memorial Day holiday, the day set aside in the United States for honoring the nation's war dead. Gillum died early in 1967.
      Napier, of 5294 Robinson Vail Road, had served in the United States Army since 1964 and at the time of his death, held the rank of Specialist five.
      A graduate of Miamisburg High Schoo, Specialist Napier had made his  home in that community until his entry in the service. His wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Napier, had been making her home with her mother.
      Besides his wife, young Napier is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Napier and a sister, Mrs. Irene Hurd, all of Germantown, and a brother, Paul Napier, of Canton.
      Funeral arrangements are still indefinite at the Eaton Funeral Home.

      "Full military services were held Monday afternoon for Jack W. Napier, of 5294 Robinson-Vail Road, who was killed in action June 6 in South Vietnam. The services were held at the Bryden Road Pentacostal Church in Moraine City at 2:00 p.m. Monday followed by interment in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg. The Rev. Ellis E. Allen officiated and the Eaton Funeral Home of Franklin was in charge of the services.
      A graduate of Miamisburg HIgh School, he entered the service in 1964 and at the time of his death held the rank of Sp 5.
      His wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Napier; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Napier, one brother and a sister survive."
