WESLEY CHAPEL, HARLAN TOWNSHIP
The Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was organized about 1846, by Jacob Jackson, Joshua Thompson and others. The church is situated near Level, in Harlan Township, and is one of the most active country societies in the county, with a large membership. The pastor is Rev. J. W. Burdsall, who is seen in the above picture. The elderly gentleman standing at his side in Mr. A. M. Fox, born in Union Township, Warren County, March 30, 1827. In 1845 he moved to Harlan Township, within half a mile of Wesley Chapel, of which he became a member in 1853. In 1869 he moved closer to the church, where he now resides, being the oldest member now living. He has held all of the official offices, and within the fifty years has always been found in the front ranks, absenting himself only on account of sickness which, fortunately, has seldom afflicted him.

emails from Charlene Frey and Will Motsinger indicate that the Wesley Chapel building was removed to 111 West Baldwin Street in Blanchester, sometime after 1903. Will talked to John Simpson who told him that his father, Walter B. Simpson (1884-1968) had disassembled the house and rebuilt it on Baldwin Street as a private dwelling. The photos of the building on Baldwin Street were taken by Charlene Frey on 3 Jun 2016.

I found one more article on Page 26 of Matella Prickett Doughman's document "Some of the Descendants of Edward William Jackson." It is about the purchase of land from Joshua Thompson to build the Wesley Methodist Episcopalian Chapel.
"In Vol. 37, page 287, in the Recorder's office in the Court House at Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio, is recorded a deed from Joshua Thompson and wife, to Jacob M. Jackson, John Swigart, and Stephen Jackson, Trustees of M. E. Church, for one acre of ground, purchase price $25.00, on the Milford and Martinsville Road -- for church and burying ground -- dated June 2, 1854. No doubt a "class" was organized prior to this date."

" . . . Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church. This was organized by Jacob Jackson, Joshua Thompson, and others, about 1846, and was a branch of the Butlerville church. The church is about one mile southeast of Level. The membership of this society now numbers about ninety-three. . . ."
