      " Services are to be held today (Thursday) for a Franklin Marine, who was one of five who died in a helicopter crash near Brunswick, Ga., May 15.
      The marine, Cpl. Donnie L. Marler, 18, son of Mrs. J. M.Rowe of 9 S. Main St. was a mechanic on the crew of the aircraft which was en route from its base at New River Marine Base near Jackson, N.C., to Jacksonville, Fla.
      The crash followed by just two months a meritorious mast awarded Marler, then a PFC, for his quick thinking in helping to prevent loss of two helicopters during a storm while on the U. S. S. Tarawa. He was named "Marine of the Month" for the act and was promoted to corporal in April.
      He entered the Marine Corps in October of 1956. . . ."
