KILLED IN GERMANY

Charles Greenup, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Greenup, of Franklin,
was killed in Germany April 15, a War department telegram informed his
parents Friday afternoon.
Greenup entered service in February 1944, and had been overseas since
September. He was a member of an observation battalion field artillry
unit of the ninth army.
Greenup was a graduate of Arlington High school, Indaina.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Ellen, at home; three brothers, Lt.
Harry Greenup, prisoner of war in Germany; George
in the Marianas Islands, and Robert, at home.

Mrs. Greenup's Son Killed in Auto Crash
Harry R. Greenup, 36, son of Mrs. Ina Greenup of Franklin, and his wife
were killed last week end in a car accident. The couple was on their way
to their home at Denver, Colo., from a fishing trip.
Details of the accident are meager, but the car is reported to gone into
the Colorado River.
Mrs. Greenup has gone to Denver for the services which will be conducted
there Friday morning.
The couple had four children, ranging in age from 14 to 3.
Mr. Greenup's brother, George, also lived in Franklin.

Car Plunges Into Colorado River
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.
(AP) - A Denver couple was missing and feared drowned in the Colorado
River after their car veered off U. S. 6-40 and submerged upside-down
in the icy waters Sunday night.
Two passengers in the car managed to swim to safety. They suffered shock
and exposure.
The state patrol said the presumed victims are Harry Greenup, 36, and
his wife, Mary Carolyn, 34, both of Denver. Patrolmen and volunteers were
searching the river today for their bodies.

Ina Mae Greenup
Mrs. Ina Mae Greenup, 90, of Fourth St., Franklin, died March 31 at the
Franklin Nursing Home.
She is survived by one son, George of Newark, one daughter, Mary Ellen
Mills of Kettering; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Private services were held Tuesday, Apr. 2, at 11 a.m. at Eaton-Anderson
Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul C. Mills officiating. Burial was in Woodhill
Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
