JACOB B. HOUGH
was born in Camargo, Pa., in 1829. He was educated at Lebanon
Academy, Lebanon, Ohio, and the University of Michigan, graduating
at the latter institution in 1865. He became professor of chemistry at
his Alma Mater. Two years later he located in Lebanon, Ohio, and remained
here as a practicing physician for a number of years. In 1873 he moved
to Cincinnati and established himself as an analytical and consulting
chemist. In the same year he was appointed professor of chemistry and
toxicology in the Miami Medical College. He filled this chair for six
years. He died in Lebanon in 1897. He was elected vice-president of the
Ohio State Medical Society in 1873. Source: Otto Juettner A. M., M.
