The Ohio Genealogical Society is the largest state genealogical society in the United States and has at least one chapter in nearly every county of Ohio. The Warren County Genealogical Society was honored by the Ohio Genealogical Society at their annual business luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus on April 14, 2007. The Warren County chapter was the recipient of 3 of the 5 annual awards presented to their chapters at the meeting. Also see Proclamation by the Warren County Commissioners

In recognition of these Awards, the Warren County Commissioners presented a proclamation to the society at the April 24th, 2007 Commissioners meeting which read as follows
Proclamation from the office
of the Board of County Commissioners Warren County Ohio
Resolution honoring the Warren County Genealogical Society for best in the state for top volunteer, top website and top genealogy society from the Ohio Genealogical Society. Whereas the Warren County Genealogical Society has been recognized for three outstanding services provided to the citizens of Warren County and the state of Ohio and Whereas on Tuesday, April 24th, 2007 the Warren County Genealogical Society is having a ceremony to celebrate this outstanding achievement and Whereas it is the desire of this board to make the Warren County Genealogical Society celebration a memorable occasion. And now therefore we David G. Young, Pat Arnold South and C. Michael Kilburn commissioners of Warren County Ohio do hereby recognize and honor the Warren County Genealogical Society for having the top volunteer, top website and for being the top Genealogical Society in the State of Ohio. In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names and caused the seal of Warren County to be affixed at Lebanon this 24th day of April in the year of our Lord 2007. About the Warren County Genealogical Society
The Warren County Genealogical Society was established in 1981 by a number of local county residents to build and promote interest in collecting and preserving genealogical records relating to Warren County. Twenty six years later, the chapter has over 250 members from around the country, maintains a resource library in Lebanon, Ohio and publishes over 115 different books. The Library, in the County Adminstration Building, 406 Justice Drive, is open Mon. - Fri. from 9:00 til 4:00 to all for researching. Everyone is also welcome to attend the Society meetings held on the third Wednesdays of most months at the Phillippi Meeting Room at Otterbein. Call 513-695-1144 for more information. OGS is a non-profit organization, incorporated under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3) whose purposes are:
1. Fostering an interest
in all of the peoples who contributed in any way to the establishment and perpetuation
of the state of Ohio.
2. Searching for the reasons and forces behind the migration of early settlers
into this state.
3. Preserving and safeguarding manuscripts, books, and memorabilia relating
to the early settlers of Ohio.
4. Securing and holding copyrights, master copies and plates of books, periodicals,
tracts, and pamphlets of genealogical and historical interest to the people
of Ohio.
5. Publishing, printing, buying, selling and circulating literature regarding
the purposes, records, acquisitions and discoveries of the Society.
6. Aiding others in the publication and dissemination of materials pertaining
to Ohio, including biography and family and local history.
7. Receiving and holding gifts and bequests from any source for the benefit
of the Society, disposing of such gifts and bequests not needed and using funds
derived therefrom solely for the purposes of the Society.
8. Doing all things incidental to the perpetuation of the purposes of the Society,
and exercising the powers legally and properly requisite thereto.
