History: pages 44-47 from which the following is excerpted.
First established just before the Civil War by James Couden and operated
as a private bank until 1907 when it was chartered as the Morrow
National Bank. A second bank, the First National Bank
of Morrow was established in 1907. Both banks operated in Morrow
across the street from each other until 1935 when they merged under the
name First National Bank of Morrow. The bank was damaged
by floods in 1913, 1937 and 1959.

W. W. WHITKER Succumbs at 81.
W. Wesley Whiteker 81 former president of the Morrow Bank died at his
residence in Morrow. He had retired from his position in January 1952.
Mr. Whiteker was a former elder of the Morrow Presbyterian Church; a member
of the Morrow Masonic Lodge and of the Morrow Chapter F. and A. M. the
Morrow Lions Club and was active in Boy Scout week.
He is survived by his wife Laura; a son Elgin
Cincinnati; two brothers Eureka and Deshaboth
of Cynthiana Ky.; and four grandchildren Linda and Geoffrey Overley
both of Mariemont and Stewart and Stephen Whitaker
both of Wilmington.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Vale Funeral Home with
burial in Spring Valley Cemetery.
