Joseph T. Bogan (1841-1931)
CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES AT HOME IN HARVEYSBURG
WAYNESVILLE – Mr. Joseph
T. Bogan, a well known resident of Harveysburg, died at his
home in that village early last Tuesday afternoon after a protracted illness
with heart trouble. Funeral services were conducted from the Friends Church
in Harveysburg Thursday afternoon in charge of Rev. Amos Cook and burial
was made in Miami cemetery.
Mr. Bogan was a veteran of the Civil War having served as a private
in Company I of the 187th O.V.I.
and was past 89 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived
by several sons and daughters, his wife having preceded him in death last
October.
Mr Dallas Yeazel, a grandson
of Mr. Bogan, died at the home of his parents in Cincinnati a few hours
previous to his grandfather’s death. His remains were brought here
for burial in Miami cemetery

Nathaniel B. Yeazel
(1847-1915)
NATHANIEL B. YEAZEL.
Nathaniel B. Yeazel was born at Clarksville, Ohio, September 4, 1847 and
died at his home in Lebanon, January 28, 1915, aged 67 years, three months
and twenty-eight days. The most of his life was spent at Clarksville and
Waynesville. He was married to Delilah Downs September 14, 1867. To this
union were born twelve children, eleven sons and one daughter. The wife
and mother and four sons have preceded him to the better world, two sons
dying in infancy and two after they had homes of their own, leaving eight
children living - Oney, Roy, Frank, Alvin and the daughter Flora, the
wife of Thomas Henderson, all residing in Lebanon. John and Charles reside
in Elmwood Place and Andrew in Waynesville. He was a soldier of the Civil
War, having enlisted at Columbus as a recruit in Co.
H, 113th Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry July 20, 1863, Colonel
John G. Mitchell in command. From the first he saw hard Military service
having been engaged in many important battles of the war. He was in the
battles of Chickamauga, Ga., September 19, 20, 1863, Siege of Nashville,
Rocky Face Ridge, Resaca, Doleas, Kennison Mountain. He wes in the bloody
battle of Peach Tree Creek July 20, 1863 where General McPherson was killed,
and fought in the Siege of Atlanta. He also made the famous march with
Sherman to the Sea, and was with his regiment in the Siege of Savannah.
He fought at Bentonville, Ga., and was with Sherman's army when Johnson
surrendered and which ended the War of the Rebellion. He had his hearing
impaired in an engagement at Ringold Gap, Ga., May 1864. He was honorably
discharged at Louisville, Ky., July 6, 1865 by order of the War Department.
The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at his home on East
street, and interment took place in Lebanon cemetery.
