DIED—On the first of September, 1851, Rebecca Mckinney, age ninety-one years. The subject of this brief notice was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania; from thence she removed to Virginia, and was there united in marriage with Stephen McKinney. In the twenty-third year of her age, she was convicted of the necessity of being converted, by listening to a sermon by a Baptist minister, from the following text: “Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth,” &c.; Eccl. 12th chapter and 1st verse. She was taken into the M. E. Church, in the year 1806, by the Rev. John Sale, who was then a missionary in Northern Virginia. In 1811, she removed from Virginia to Clinton County, Ohio, lived there thirteen years, thence moving to Pickaway county, Ohio, where her husband died. She then moved to Warren County, Ohio, and attached herself to the United Brethren society at Harveysburg, but remained a member but a short time, when she reunited herself with the M. E. Church, in which she remained until her decease, which occurred as follows: She had been with one of her daughters, out to St. Mary’s, and on her return, while at Fairfield in Greene county, she was attacked with palsy, it being the third attack, and this ended her life there. She was a member of church forty-five years, and always seemed to enjoy a sufficiency of that grace which gave her consolation in every change in this life. A funeral sermon was preached on October 19th, 1851, by Rev. Samuel Zentmire, to an attentive congregation. He was followed by the reading of this notice and appropriate remarks, by E. Mills.
