Word was received Saturday by Mrs. Hazel Verbryke that her son, Lt. Robert M. Verbryke, was killed in action over Germany on Sept. 11. Word came from the German government through the International Red Cross.

Lt. Verbryke was first listed as wounded in action in Germany on August 24 and later reported as missing in action over Germany on September 11. Well known here, Lt. Verbryke is a graduate of Lebanon high school and was employed at NCR before entering the service.

Surviving are his mother, a sister, Nellie and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Bone, Lebanon.

Mrs. Francis Brannock of Waynesville was notified that her son, Cpl. Thomas B. Brannock, who was wounded in action in France on November 9, has been awarded the Purple Heart. His mother received word Saturday that he was improving slowly but it would require two years before he would fully recover.
