A Fatal Accident near Oregonia Mr. Thomas Turner, who lives on a farm near Oregonia, was fatally injured
on last Saturday night during the storm. He had been to Oregonia and in
attempting to put his buggy in the carriage shed, a strong, high wind
which was blowing, caught the door and twisted it off the hinges. Mr.
Turner was thrown to the ground and the door fell upon him. His wife came
to his assistance, and in attempting to lift the door, the wind caught
it again and carried it several feet distant. Mr. Turner was rendered
unconscious by the accident. Medical aid was immediately summoned, but
to no avail and he never regained consciousness. It was found that he
was severely injured internally and also about the head. Death ensued
Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Turner are both mutes, and were alone
when the accident occurred Source: The Western Star 17 Dec 1903 [copy obtained from obituary collection at the Warren County Genealogical Society] |
