Lebanon Flyer War Casualty In Italy
Former Athlete Had Completed 11 Missions on B-24 Bomber
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell "Pop" Reynolds received word Sunday from
the War Department that their son, Sgt.
Orval R. Reynolds, 21, had been killed in action in the Italian war
theatre on June 11.
S. Sgt. Reynolds, who was serving as an engineer on a B-24 Bomber, arrived
in Italy on June 1 and had 11 missions to his credit on June 10, according
to a letter received from him by his parents. He enlisted in the Army
Air Forces while still associated with the Production Plating Works here
and trained at Miami Beach Fla.; Ft. Myers, Fla.; Sheppard Field, Texas.;
Salt Lake CIty, Utah and Peterson Field, Colo.
He was widely known in athletic circles here as he and his brother Cpl.
Vernon Reynolds, comprised the batteries for the championship Production
Plating Team, managed by "Pop" Reynolds. His brother is somewhere
in England.
Besides his parents and brother in England, he is survived by two brothers,
Ralph and Eugene, at home.
