Mrs. Anna N. Pauley.

Mrs. Anna M. Pauley, of Mason, died last Saturday, at the advanced age of eighty-one years and six months, of dropsy. In her death Mason looses one of its oldest and best loved ladies. She was a native of this county, having been born near Lebanon, October 28, 1806. Her maiden name was Reeder. She was married to the late John Pauley, October 1, 1828. They had seven children, four of whom survive their parents. She had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church since 1837 and died in its membership. She was a kind, sympathetic Christian lady, and her death will be widely mourned, especially by the poor. The funeral services were conducted at Mason by Rev. G. A. Blair and the remains were interred in the Lebanon cemetery.

Death of Capt. D. W. Pauley.
The uncertainty of life was never more keenly felt than on Sunday morning when the word was passed that Daniel W. Pauley had died during the night. On Saturday afternoon he had been about town as usual an in the enjoyment of seemingly perfect health. Shortly before dusk he returned to his home on Columbus avenue, and spending the evening as usual in company with his wife and brother-in-law, he retired about ten o’clock. About thirty minutes later, Mrs. Pauley went to their room and finding her husband lying almost crosswise on the bed with the covers thrown back as if he had attempted to get up, she raised his head, he breathed once and that was his last.

Capt. Pauley enlisted in Company F. 12th O. V. I. and served three months as Orderly Sergeant; was promoted to Adjutant which position he filled about a year and was then promoted to Captain in Company C of the 12th Regiment. Was wounded in the side by a spent ball and after remaining at home eighteen months he returned to the army, serving in the commissary department. Since the war he has lived in Lebanon and has been one of our best citizens.

The funeral services was held at the late residence Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. P. Porter, of the M. E. church. The funeral was in charge of the Granville Thurston Post, G. A. R. of which he was a member. Deceased was in his sixty-third year. Mrs. Pauley and on son a young man living in Dayton, are the only remaining members of his family.
