Rites Held Tuesday For A.A.F. Gunner

Was Graduate of Mason High in Class of 1940

The body of S/Sgt. Clifford H. McCurley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orel J. McCurley, North Broadway arrived in Cincinnati from New York Monday night.

Services were held at the grave in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Tuesday, 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. E. lee Niswander. Burial was in charge of Gallimore Funeral Home.

S/Sgt. McCurley, a gunner on a B-29 [sic], was killed in action in France in February, 1945, after he had been overseas about eight months. He had been awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Good Conduct medal. His bombing group had received the Presidential and French Citation.

A graduate of Mason High in 1940 he was associated with Wright Plant in Lockland before enlisting in February 1943. Surviving are his parents, two brothers, William and Robert of Mason, and two sisters, Mrs. Margery Fox and Mrs. Betty Gorrell, both of Lebanon.
