Alice (Bone) McClung

OBITUARY

Alice McClung, was born in Warren county, Ohio, October 21st, 1852, and died June 14th, 1891. Aged 38 years, 7 months and 23 days.

She died upon the farm upon which she was born and raised; with the exception of a few years her entire life was spent thereon.

She was the daughter of Cyrus and Eliza Bone, both of whom precede her to the Spirit land.

She was married to John W. McClung October 8th, 1874; and for sixteen years has battled bravely by his side. Being, according to scripture injunctions, a “help meet indeed.”

She was frail and fragile, but of indomitable will and energy. As long as she was able to be on foot, and to go, she would have no help or assistance, though often requested to do so by both husband and physician.

For several years her health has been declining – succumbing gradually to the ravages of that dread destroyer “Bright’s disease.” During the past three years her afflictions have been more or less constant, and her sufferings at times were intense, yet she was never heard to murmur of complain, but bore them all with fortitude and resignation.

She was quiet and unassuming, reticent among strangers, but feank and free among her friends.

She was an affectionate wife, a loving sister and daughter, and a kind friend. Besides her now disconsolate husband, his family and connections, she leaves one brother, half brother, two half sisters, step mother, step sister, and a large circle of friends to mourn her departure and mingle their tears among those of the sorrow stricken husband.

But our loss is her eternal gain, and we commit her body to the earth and her spirit to God, who gave it.

He doeth all things well, and to his will we bow submissively.
