James A. Kearney (1846-1925)

CAPTAIN KERNEY DIES.
Word has been received that James A. Kearney died in San Diego, Calif.; on October 25th last.
Captain Kearney was the last of the one-time prominent family of this vicinity and was well known, especially around Waynesville where he was postmaster during Garfield's administration.
He will be well remembered by the older citizens of the community as captain of the Harris Guards.

Sarah N. Kearney (1794-1881)

Mrs. Sarah N. Kearney died Friday morning last, Nov. 18th, at the residence of her son in-law's, J. W. Matthews. She was born in New York City, Oct. 17th, 1794, hence was 87 years of age. The greater part of her life since her sistieth year has been spent with her daughter in this place.
