OBITUARY

Rebecca M. Thomas, daughter of Edward and Abigail (Note: Her maiden name was Benham, my 4th great aunt) Thomas, was born December 18, 1837; died August 19, 1920, aged 82 years, 8 months and 1 day. She was united in marriage to William H. Hoblit (Note: William Harrison Hoblit (1834-1909), son of Merritt(1800-1877) and Anna Vandolar (Sackett)(1801-1881) Hoblit), July 19, 1863. To this union were born two children: Luvilla M. and Valentine M. (twins) (Note: Luvilla M. Hoblit (1864-1883) married my great uncle Perry William Hartsock (1865-1943) and her twin brother, Valentine M. Hoblit (1864- ) married Alice (last name not known by me.)).

In her early womanhood she united with the Sugar Creek Christian Church and remained a member until, in her declining years, she united with Middle Run Baptist Church, of which she remained a member until her death. She was a devoted wife and kind and loving mother.

Being of a social nature, she enjoyed entertaining and visiting with friends and neighbors. She leaves her son, three grandchildren – Jesse V. Hartsock (Note: Son of Luvilla and Perry Hartsock), Glenna Conner (Note: Daughter of Valentine and Alice Hoblit), and Forest Hoblit (Note: Son of Valentine and Alice Hoblit), one brother, Frank Thomas, of Waynesville, also several nephews and nieces and many friends.

“There is no death; what seems so is transition (?);
This spark of mortal breath is but a suburb of that life elysian;
Whose portal we call death.”
