John H. Hill (1843-1921)

JOHN H. HILL DIED AT MASON.
It was wil genuine sorrow that news was received of the death of John H. Hill, which occurred at his home in Mason last Monday afternoon, about five o'clock. The deceased was one of the best known men in that section of the county. He had been in poor health for some time, suffering with an affection of the throat. Mr. Hill was aged about 80, and was a soldier of the civil war. His wife preceeded hi to the grave about 3 years ago. A son, Charles, and a daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Gorsuch, are the immediate relatives who survive the deceased.
The funeral services will be held at the farm owned by Mr. Hill, 2 miles South of Mason, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon and interment will be made in the Mason cemetery.
Mr. Hill had been a resident of Warren County the greater portion of his long life.

Pearl Lavern Hill (1924-1944)

MARINE KILLED IN SOUTH PACIFIC BURIED SUNDAY
Enlisted in Service While Senior at Lebanon High School

Military funeral services in charge of the Ralph P. Snook Post of the American Legion were held Sunday at 2:30 o’clock at the Oswald Funeral Home for Pfc. Perl “Buddy” Hill, aged 20, who was killed in action in the South Pacific in July, 1944, while serving with the U.S. Marines. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery. The Rev. B. F. Judd of Cincinnati, officiated.
Pfc. Hill was a senior in Lebanon high school when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and had been in the service two years. He was a former employe of Stokes Dairy Company.
He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Emery Hill, two sisters, Mrs. Paula Thomas and Marna Lee Hill, Lebanon, and two brothers, Lionel and Robert, also of Lebanon.
