Catherine Hatfield - 7 Nov 1907 Western Star OLDEST RESIDENT DEAD. Mrs. Catherine Hatfield, 94, Succumbs Friday Morning. Was Oldest Resident in Lebanon. The death of Mrs. Catherine Hatfield, Friday morning removed from Lebanon its oldest resident. She was the mother of Mrs. J. H. Wood and death occurred at the Wood home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Catherine Ann Sill was born near Elizabeth, Monmouth County New Jersey October 10. 1813. She was the daughter of Thomas and Charity Sill and was the eighth of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters of whom none survive. At the age of eighteen in company with her parents, brothers and sisters, and a number of neighborhood families, she emigrated to Ohio locating in Warren County near Calisle [sic]. Here she spent the days of her young womanhood, in the midst of the primitive conditions of that early period. In September of 1838, she was united in marriage to Israel L. Hatfield. To this union were born seven children, six sons and one daughter; of whom only one son, V. C. Hatfield and the daughter, Belle H. Wood, survive. About 1845 Mr. and Mrs. Hatfield removed to Lebanon, in which place they spent their remaining days. Mrs. Hatfield survived her husband fourteen years. She was a woman of remarkable vitality. During a long life of ninety-four years, she retained all her faculties, except that of hearing, until the beginning of her final illness ten weeks ago. Mrs. Hatfield was a member of the Methodist church of which denomination her father was a minister. She was a devoted wife and a kind and affectionate mother. As a friend and neighbor she was very sympathetic and helpful in the time of sickness and trouble. |

Clark Hatfield - 6 June 1856 Western Star obituary Clark Hatfield - June 6, 1856 - In the vicinity of
Lebanon, on Sunday last, Mr. Clark Hatfield, in the 75th
year of his age. He was one of the early settlers of Warren County, having
arrived at Deerfield, on the 4th of July 1800; and has ever since been
a resident of the county. He was a quiet, orderly, excellent citizen,
and much esteemed by his friends and neighbors. |

Dale H. Hatfield - The Western Star, Lebanon, Ohio, Thursday, May 24, 1945 The War Department has notified Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hatfield of Park Avenue their son, Lt. Dale H. Hatfield, who was seriously wounded in action in Austria on May 3, succumbed to wounds on May 5. Mr. and Mrs. Hatfield received the first telegram on Thursday and the second on Saturday. Lt. Hatfield was first wounded in action in Germany on December 2, 1944, but had recovered sufficiently to rejoin his outfit. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Well known here, Lt. Hatfield is a graduate of Lebanon high school in the class of '36. He was engaged in farming before entering the service. Lt. Hatfield entered the service March 9, 1942 and served overseas since September 1944. Besides his mother and father he leaves two sisters, Gladys of Cincinnati and Mrs. Richard Cunningham of Mason. His brother-in-law, Richard Cunningham, Y2/c is serving with the Navy somewhere in the Pacific. Dale H. Hatfield - The Western Star, Lebanon, Ohio, Thursday, November 18, 1948 OBITUARY On March 9, 1942 he answered his country's call to duty and served 38 months in the 44th Division of the U. S. Army. In September 1944 he left for overseas duty in the EUropean theater. There his gallant spirit and meritorious service in action against the enemy won for him the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His valiant deeds and unselfish devotion to duty merited him a battlefield commission of Second Lieutenant on January 8, 1945. He was fatally wounded in Austria May 3, 1945 and succumbed to his wounds in a hospital in Germany. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and another Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He is survived by his parents and two sisters Mrs. Gladys Warne of Miami Beach, Florida and Mrs. Donna Cunningham of Hamilton, Ohio |

Earl Hatfield - 6 June 1991 obituary Earl Ferguson Hatfield - June 5, 1991 - Former Lebanon
resident Earl Ferguson Hatfield, 91, died Tuesday, May
28, in Palm Springs, Florida., where he lived. He moved from Lebanon to
Florida in 1945. He was a member of the Belvedere Baptist Church and co-owner
of Hatfield Rug Cleaners Corp. Survivors include his wife, Daisey,
two sons, Donald of West Palm Beach, Fla. and James
of Palm Springs, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Everett.
Services were held Friday, May 31, in the E. Earl Smith & Son East
Chapel in Lake Worth, Fla., with the Revs. Glen Ross, Al Childress and
Ray Henry officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery
in West Palm Beach, Florida. |

Edgar J. Hatfield - 27 Oct 1927 obituary Edgar J. Hatfield , son of Sarah F.
and Jacob A. Hatfield, was born on October 20, 1873,
and departed this early life on October 14, 1927. In the year 1897 he
was united in marriage with Gertrude Fairchild. Their
home was blessed with four sons, one of whom died in infancy. The father
and the mother of the departed both preceded their son into eternity.
Mr. Hatfield is survived, besides two brothers, a sister and two grandsons,
by his devoted wife and three sons, William C. Hatfield
of West Palm Beach Florida, Earl F. Hatfield of Lebanon,
Ohio, Ralph J. Hatfield, also of West Palm Beach, Florida.
With the exception of about three years, Mr. Hatfield spent his entire
life in Warren County. Funeral services were held on Monday morning, October
17, at 10 o'clock at the Oswald funeral home. The Junior Order of United
American Mechanics, in co-operation with Rev. John H. Lamy, had charge
of the services. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at South Lebanon,
Ohio. |

Elnora I. Hatfield - 30 Apr 1969 obituary Mrs. Elnora I. Hatfield, aged 65, 724 Arnold Drive,
West Palm Beach, Fla. died Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Hatfield was a former

Roy Stringfellow of Dayton, and 14 grandchildren. Funeral
services were held Tuesday at the E. Earl Smith and Sons Funeral Home
in Lake Worth, Fla. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West
Palm Beach. |

Gertrude Hatfield - 24 May 1928 obituary Mrs. Gertrude Hatfield dies at home of son. Last rites
for Mrs. Gertrude Hatfield, widow of Edgar Hatfield,
who passed away Monday night after a lingering illness at the age of 50
years, will be conducted at the Oswald Funeral Home Thursday at 10 am.
Mrs. Hatfield passed away at the home of her son, Earl,
near Morrow. She is survived by three sons, Earl, of
Morrow, and Ralph and Cecil, who reside
in Florida. Burial will be in South Lebanon. |

Jacob A. Hatifield - 22 February 1906 Western Star obituary Death of Jacob A. Hatfield - Jacob A. Hatfield
died at his home east of town Thursday, February 14. On July 4. 1888,
he was stricken with paralysis and from that time until his death he was
deprived of his speech. The funeral services were held on Saturday morning
at eleven o'clock from the Bethany church and were in charge of Rev. Crampton.

Sarah Ferguson Hatfield - 3 April 1927 obituary Sarah Ferguson Hatfield, who for sixty one years lived
two miles southeast of Lebanon on the old Hatfield homestead on the Stubbs
mills Road died there on April 22nd, at the advanced age of eighty seven
years. She was the widow of Jacob A. Hatfield, who died
in 1906. Funeral services were held for at Bethany Church on Monday morning,
conducted by Rev. Lamy. She was the mother of four children, Mrs.
Robert Shawhan, Perry, Edgar and Stanley, all
of whom survive her. She was a good woman, a good neighbor and a good
mother. "It may be wrong to idolize a human being, but for such idolatry
of a good mother, God will surely forgive. True affection never dies-it
is confined to no sphere-it is a spark of divinity, implanted in every
human soul, and grows and strengthens and becomes finer as the years pass
by." |
