Francis Thomas Aldridge
(1847-1922)
OBITUARY
Francis Thomas Aldridge was born October 3, 1847. His father and mother
died when he was fourteen years of age. Being alone he wanted to do his
part for his country. On account of his age, he failed to get into the
great war but the captain of the regiment, who seemed to understand the
boy, interceded for him and he enlisted in Company
A, 160th Ohio Regiment at Zanesville, Ohio. He was with Captain Lyons,
always ever ready to do his bidding. He saw active service during the
war. When he grew to manhood he was married to Emley K. Gibbs on February
11, 1872. To them two daughters were born. All his life he has stood for
patriotism When again the country asked for help, he stood in line waiting
the opening of the bank to secure the first bond, thus helping his country
again with his all, in his own patriotic way. His last wishes were that
he should be laid to rest with his many life long friends at South
Lebanon, Ohio. He died as he had lived - always prepared. He leaves
a wife and two daughters and two grand children to mourn his loss.
