The National Normal University is again on a sound financial basis and there is abundant reason for the belief that its future will be far brighter than its past. Its debts are all being paid and a board of directors has been elected consisting of Dr. J. L. Stephens, J. M. Hayner, Wm. C. Lewis, Geo. W. Stanley and Chas. K. Hamilton, with Dr. Stephens as president, and MR. Hamilton as secretary. They will have entire control of the business of the institution, and the old faculty, entire, has been retained. A vigorous policy of advertising has been adopted, and the University will have twice the attendance two years years form now that it has at present, if the plan of aggressive work is followed out that is promised. The WESTERN STAR has purposely avoided saying a great deal about the troubles of the school, because it believed by so doing it would spread broadcast the impression that it had failed, when in fact it only put itself into a very much better financial condition by the adjustment of its debts. |
