Tuesday last was observed as a day of fasting and prayer. Religious exercises were observed in all of the churches. So much quiet and good order, we have never before witnessed. A Sabbath stillness prevailed; and all appeared thoughtful and mindful of the obligations they were under to a merciful Providence for having thus far spared our village from the “noisome pestilence.”
