The Shaker settlement near Cleveland which was established in 1832, has been abandoned, part of the handfull of original settlers who remained going to Union Village, Warren County, and the remainder to Waterliet, near Dayton. The personal effects of the Shakers, consisting of old clocks, spinning wheeld, [sic] old china, etc., have just been sold at auction for a trifle more than $200. The cause of the abandonment of the settlement was the lack of young hands to do the work so long carried on by the few white-haired men and women who composed the two families.
