UNCLE
JOHN PERRINE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Mr. Perrine is remarkably well preserved for his years and takes a lively interest in affairs of the day. He enjoys the distinction of attaining a greater age than any member of his family for several generations, and is the oldest member of the local G. A. R. post ever had. He saw three years of service with the “boys in blue.” His father, James Perrine was represented in that great struggle by five sons and three grandsons. Uncle John was born in the same home in which he now lives on Feb. 15, 1827; his father having settled there in 1912 [sic]. Not many farms remain in a family past the century mark, but this one, after more than a hundred and nine years is still in the possession of the original owner’s son. The homestead retains many old-time features and is and is a happy meeting place for five generations of descendants of James Perrine. Source: The Western Star, Lebanon,
