THE KNOT.

"A single life is doubtless much preferable to a married one, when prudence and affection do not accompany the choice; but where they do, there is no terrestrial happiness equal to the married state."
The best dowry to advance the marriage of a young lady is mildness in her countenance, wisdom in her speech, modesty in her behaviour and virtue in her life.
"Wisdom to gold prefer, for tis much less,
To Make your fortune, than your happiness."

MARRIED, - On Thursday last by the Rev. Wm. Gray, Mr. Daniel French, to Miss Amy Tingle, of this county.
- On the 15th ult. by the Rev. Archibald Steele, the converted Jew, Mr. Myers, to Mrs. Mary Philips, of Green county.
