G. A. R. Reunion
Lebanon Will Entertain Distinguished Guests.

On next Tuesday, August 14, Lebanon will have the pleasure of entertaining a distinguished company, it being the survivors of the famous 79th O.V.I. and the 4th Ohio Cavalry, with their wives. Lebanon’s turn to entertain this reunion comes only about once in ten years and in the very nature of things it is plain that ten years hence the few “boys” then surviving will not not be numerous. So that this is likely the last opportunity Lebanon will have of entertaining this reunion, and assuredly the last time that so many of its distinguished men will be here. So not taking into consideration patriotism and local pride, for the reasons above mentioned alone we should give these veterans a welcome so cheery and hospitable that they will not only feel welcome while here but will go home talking about the royal entertainment extended them.
About on hundred and fifty of the 79th boys are expected and one half of this number will probably bring their wives. The survivors of the cavalry regiment are more widely scattered but it is expected that a hundred or more of them will be here making in all something like four hundred guest within our village on August 14. Among the more distinguished will be Capt. E. R. Monfort, of Cincinnati, Department Commander, Col. Schumaker, of Dayton, Col. A. W. Doan, of Wilmington, and Col. Thompson of Knoxville, while Adjutant General Coburn, of Washington, has been invited and my be present.
Let our people not forget to decorate their places of business and residences on this occasion. Every home should display the national colors in profusion. Another matter that should not be overlooked is the fact that the visitors must be fed. All citizens are asked to aid in doing this without further solicitation, all who can should prepare something and send it to the I. O. O. F. Hall by ten o’clock that day.
The day’s exercises will begin at 9:30 in the G. A. R. Hall where business and social sessions will be held. Dinner will be served at the I. O. O. F. Hall and then at two o’clock public speaking in the opera house, to which the public is invited.
