Honorably Wounded John Clinton, son of H. L. Clinton of Maineville, returned home a few days ago wounded. Young Clinton is a member of the band belonging to the 2d Ohio. He left Nashville to rejoin his regiment at Huntsville. On the 1st day of May, when near the town of Pulaski the train of Government Wagons to which he was attached, was captured by the notorious Morgan; but not until after a sharp contest against overpowering numbers. Not thinking music of much service at this juncture, Mr. Clinton dropped his horn and grasped a gun, with which he played bullet music about the heads of the rebels until he was wounded in the right hand. The next day our forces marched into Pulaski and finding the guns taken by Morgan, in the hands of the citizens, the town was made to pay dearly for its treachery. But not a man of them would take the oath. Source: unnamed newspaper dated
