This indenture made this eighth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between Enoch A. Ross and Anna his wife of the County of Warren and State of Ohio of the first part and George Holmes of the County and State aforesaid of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of a lot of land to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged hath granted bargained sold remised released aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell remise release alien and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns all that certain lot or parcel of land situate in County and State aforesaid lying on the waters of Taylor fork of Todds fork of the Little Miami Beginning at a Jack Oak in the line of Thomas Mounts thence running northerly to a stake near a Sassafras corner to Thomas Mounts thence westerly with said Holmes and Ross line to the county road as it now lays thence easterly running with the meandering of said road where it now lays to the place of beginning it being a half an acre more or less together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversion remainder rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest and claim and demand whatsoever of the said party of the first part either in law or equity of in and to the above bargained premises with the said hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the above described premises lot of land to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the sole and only use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant grant bargain promise and agree to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that the said party of the first part his heirs executors and administrators the above bargained premises in the quiet and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns will warrant and by these presents forever defend against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the whole or any part thereof in witness whereof the said Enoch A. Ross and Anna his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. (Signed) Enoch A. Ross and Anna Ross. The State of Ohio, Warren County: On this 12th day of January July [sic] in the year of (seal) our Lord 1828 Enoch A. Ross and Anna his wife the grantors named in the within deed of conveyance personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the said County and severally acknowledged the signing and sealing of the same as their act and deed for the purposes therein expressed and the said Anna having been made known to the contents of said deed and being by me examined separate and apart from her husband declared that she voluntarily and of her own free will and accord without fear or coercion of her husband did and now doth acknowledge the signing and sealing thereof given under my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
