Know all men by these presents that I Philip Hill of the State of Ohio Warren
County for and in consideration of one dollar and the public good, the receipt is hereby
acknowledged by the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church to me paid, do hereby
bargain, sell, & Convey to the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church and their suc-
cessors for ever, all the following described lot of land situate in the State of Ohio Warren
County being part of Survey No. of Virginia Military lands pattented to Wm. Noll, by
Noll conveyed to Thomas Paxton dcd. Paxton to John Hill, dcd. John Hill devised to the
heirs of Joseph Hill decd said heirs to John Hagan, Hagan to Philip Hill, Beginni-
ng at the North West corner of William Hills land on the South side of the County
road, Thence with William Hills line 1st S28 ½ ° E 5.35 chains to a small black walnut
North side of a branch. 2nd S64°53’W 3.7 chains to a sugar tree, 3rd N.16 ½°W 2.08 chains
to a sugar tree, 4th N 73 ½°E. 93 chains to a small white oak, 5th N 28 ½° W 2.25 chains to ___
___, thence 6th. N. 60 ¾° E 2.34 chains to the place of beginning, containing one acre one ___
thirty three 75/100 poles of land. Together with all the privilegs and appurtenances to the same
belonging. To have & to hold the same to the said Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal chur-
ch their successors & assigns for the special purpose of a burying yard and meeting house
do forever, hereby covenanting that the title to said lot so conveyed is clear and free
from all incumbrances, and the said Philip Hill for himself his heirs and assigns will
___ and defend the same against all lawful claims whatsoever. In testimony wh-
ere of I have set my hand and seal this 23rd day of May in the year A.D.1842.

Before me John Hopkins, a justice of the peace in and for said County personally appear-
ed the within named Philip Hill and acknowledged the signing and sealing the within
deed to be his voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein expressed this 23rd day of May
one thousand eight-hundred and forty two.
