THE STATE OF OHIO, WARREN COUNTY, SS.
To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting:
Whereas, at a Court of Probate held at Lebanon, in the county aforesaid, on the 23rd day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two Joseph Stanton was by said court appointed Guardian for William R. Evans aged Eighteen years, George T. Evans aged fourteen years and Joseph Evans aged eleven years
Children of Thomas Evans decd.

Now Know ye, that the said Joseph Stanton guardian as aforesaid, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute and discharge all and singular the duties of his said guardianship, agreeably to the true intent and meaning of the laws of said State in that case made and provided.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed the seal of the Court aforesaid, at Lebanon, this 23rd day of November A.D. 1852

"Joseph Stanton’s wife, Catherine Ann was an aunt of the boys mentioned in the guardianship, as their mother, Elizabeth M. (Robinson) Evans was her step-sister. The boy’s father was Thomas Evans (born abt 1792, of South Carolina). Their maternal grandparents were William Robinson and Ann Jones (of North Carolina).
