[* this instance of Gilbert Barton's name appears to erroneously include a middle initial "H" which likely is a mistake introduced from his younger brother's, Elisha H. Barton's, name since no where else in Gilbert Barton's records from either earlier Pennsylvania, Ohio, or later Illinois does a middle initial of any sort appear in the man's name.]

[** this listed receipt for, "Funeral expenses for himself wife & child", is the only known reference revealing that Charles Towar Barton was both married and had a child. The 1830 U.S. Census, Roll 132, Hamilton Co. Ohio, Symmes Township, Pg. 193-a, 21st. unnumbered line, gives, Charles Barton, age 20-30, one female age 20-30 and one male child under age 5.]

  [transcriber note.
The following partial copy of the list of accounts, etc. owed the Charles T Barton estate was found among the loose estate papers filed in a paper envelope marked the same as the old court file box in which the papers were once stored. Apparently, the following is the 'original' list of debts filed with the Court by administrators John Lowes & James Baxter that was subsequently copied into Will Record Book 6, Pages 345, 346 & 346 overleaf, at the Court's behest by County Clerk J.K. Wilds. Thus, there exist two copies of the same list which comparisons between the two reveal minor spelling differences in the names of some of those listed. Clark J.K. Wilds, given his assumed long-running familiarity with many of the listed parties appears to have introduced spelling changes, where he evidently thought them warranted, into the list appearing in Will Book 6.]
