ERECTED
in memory of
Martin Keever Christena Keever

who was born 1727 was taken prisoner by the Indians when 30 years of age, remained with them nearly two years long. Married at the age of 37. Shortly after was shot in the side near the falls of Ohio by Indians in ambush. He made his escape but suffered much from the wound from which he finally recovered. He settled in Warren County soon after where he spent the rest of his days in peace and plenty surrounded by relatives and friends to whom he was devotedly endeared.

Wife of Martin Keever. She was his faithful partner and companion on the frontier, in scenes of danger, suffering and privation, which she endured and with only the fortitude of a heroine; she was on one occasion for the space of 3 weeks without seeing the face of a human being, her husband being absent on a hunting excursion
