Many Warren County participants served in the following regiments.

SECOND OHIO HEAVY ARTILLERY BATTALION

By the middle of 1863 the National armies had made important captures of forts and other strongholds belonging to the enemy. It became necessary to recruit a class of troops whose duty it should be to fortify, garrison and hold these captures. After the recruitment of the First Ohio Heavy Artillery Battalion, the Second was then recruited which consisted of twenty-four hundred men; rank and file was then authorized.
This Regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, Ohio, and Covington, Ky. and mustered in Company "A", July 20, Company "B", August 5, Company "C" August 26, Companies "D", "H", "I", K", and "L" September 7. Companies "E" and "M" September 9, Company "G" September 19 and Company "F" September 23, 1863. The Regiment served by Detachments till May 1864. Attached to District of Kentucky, Dept of the Ohio, to May 1864. Cleveland, Tennessee, Dept. of the Ohio, to October 1864. 2nd brigade, 4th division, 23rd Army Corps, Dept. of the Ohio, to February 1864. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, District of East Tennessee, Dept. of the Cumberland, to March 1865. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, District East Tennessee, to August 1865.
Regiment lost during service 1 officer and 2 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 3 officers and 170 enlisted men by disease. Total 176.


TWENTY-THIRD REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Columbus, Ohio, from June 1, 1861, to March 23, 1862, to serve three years. On expiration of its term of service, the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization composed of veterans and recruits, retained in service until July 26, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the war department.

THIRTY-FIRST REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Columbus, Ohio, in August and September, 1861, to serve three years. On the expiration of its term of service the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, retained in service until July 20, 1865, when it was mustered out, in accordance with orders from the War Department.

THIRTY-FOURTH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This Regiment was organized at Camps Lucas and Dennison, Ohio, from July 27, to September 14, 1861, to serve three years. On the expiration of its term of service, the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, consolidated into a Battalion of seven companies, and retained in service. It was consolidated with the Thirty-sixth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, in accordance with the War Department, dated February 24, 1865.

This Regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, Ohio, from the 3rd to the 13th of August, 1861, to serve three years. On the expiration of its term of service the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization composed of veterans and recruits retained in the service until July 9, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.

SIXTY-NINTH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized in the State of Ohio, at large, from October 1861, to April 1862, to serve three years. On the expiration of its term of service the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, retain in the service until July 17, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.

SEVENTY-FIFTH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Camp John McLean, Ohio, from November 7, 1861, to January 8, 1862, to serve three years. The original members (except veterans) were mustered out by detachments at different dates, from November 16, 1864, to January 17, 1865, by reason of expiration of term of service, and the veterans and recruits consolidated in a Battalion of two companies and retained in service until July 27, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.

EIGHTY-THIRD REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, Ohio, in August and September 1862, to serve three years. The Forty- eighth Regiment Ohio Infantry was consolidated with it January 17, 1865. The members whose term of service would have expired previous to October 1, 1865, were mustered out July 24, 1865, in accordance with orders from the War Department, and the veterans and recruits consolidated with the veterans and recruits of the 114th Regiment Ohio Infantry and formed into a battalion of six companies, and designated Forty-eighth Battalion Ohio Infantry.

EIGHTY-FIFTH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio, for three months service May-June, 1862. Zinn's Battalion moved to Kentucky and participated in operations against Morgan July, 1862. Prison Guard at Camp Chase, Ohio, till September. Zinn's Battalion moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and participated in the operations for the defense of that city against Kirby Smith's threatened attack August-September. Mustered out September 23 and September 27, 1862.
Lost during service by disease 10 enlisted men.


EIGHTY-SIXTH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

Organized at Camp Chase, Ohio, for three months service, June 10, 1862, Moved to Clarksburg, W. Va., June 16-17, and assigned to Kelly's Railroad command, June 19. Railroad guard duty at Clarksburg, June 17 to August 21. Companies "A", "C", and "I", on duty at Parkersburg July 27 to August 21. Expedition from Clarksburg to Huttonville to intercept raid by Jenkins August 21-25. Garrison duty at Clarksburg, also constructing fortifications and guarding stores August 25 to September 17. Ordered to Camp Delaware, Ohio, September 17, and mustered out September 25.
Regiment lost during service by disease 37 enlisted men.


146TH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, Ohio, from the 9th to the 12th of May 1864, to serve one hundred days. It was composed of the Thirty-first Regiment, Ohio National Guard, from Warren County; Thirty-fifth Battalion, Ohio National Guard, from Clarke County; and the Twenty-fourth Battalion, Ohio National Guard, from Lawrence County. On the 17th of May the Regiment moved to Charleston W. Va., when Companies A and H were detailed to guard Rebel prisoners at Camp Chase, Ohio. On the 23rd of May the One Hundred and Forty-sixth proceeded to Fayetteville, where it performed garrison duty. On the 27th of August the Regiment was ordered to report to Camp Piatt for transportation to Ohio. It was mustered out September 7, 1864, on expiration of term of service.
Lost during service 8 enlisted men by disease.


180TH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This regiment was organized at Camp Chase, Ohio, in September and October 1864, to serve one year. It left Camp Chase on the 15th of October for Nashville, Tenn., and from Nashville was ordered to Decherd, Tenn. The Regiment remained at Decherd for the most part of three months, and was used as guard to the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad. On January 6, 1865, the Regiment was ordered to Nashville, and, after remaining there a few days, was ordered to guard a train of wagons bound for Eastport, Miss. It went as far as Columbia, where it was met by an order to return to Nashville, and from there was ordered to Washington City. The Regiment reached Washington City January 31, 1865, and was placed in Camp Stoneman, near that City. After remaining about three weeks in camps it was ordered to Fort Fisher. On reaching the mouth of Cape Fear River, the fall of Fort Fisher was announced, rendering its services unnecessary. The Regiment was then taken to Newbern, where it joined a force under General J.D.Cox, to open railway communication with Goldsboro and General Sherman's Army. At Kingston N.C., on the 8th thru the 10th of March, the regiment had an engagement with the forces under Generals Bragg and Hoke, in which the Regiment lost a number killed and wounded. From Kingston the Regiment marched to Goldsboro, which place it reached March 21st. It remained here until April 9th, and then marched with Sherman's Army to Raleigh N.C., where it performed garrison duty until the surrender of Johnston's Army. The Regiment then moved to Greensboro, and from there to Charlotte, where it remained as the city garrison until July 12, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
Regiment lost during service 1 officer and 5 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 officer and 84 enlisted men by disease. Total 91.


183RD REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This Regiment was organized at Cincinnati and Sandusky, Ohio, in September and October 1864, to serve one year. On the 19th of November the regiment left Camp Dennison and arrived at Columbia, Tenn., on the 28th. It was assigned to the Third Brigade, Second Division, Twenty-third Army Corp, with which it remained during its entire term of service. The Regiment was engaged with the enemy at Spring Hill, Tenn., on the 29th of November, and at Franklin on the 30th. It was also engaged at Nashville on the 15th and 16th of December.
The Regiment afterward moved with the Corps to Clifton, on the Tennessee River, and thence via Cincinnati, Washington City, and Fort Fisher to Wilmington, N.C. Proceeding via Kingston it joined General Sherman's Army at Goldsboro. After the surrender of Johnston's Army the regiment moved to Salisbury, and was mustered out July 17, 1865, in accordance with orders from the War Department.

Regiment lost during service 2 officers and 22 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 officers and 57 enlisted men by disease. Total 83.


184TH REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

This Regiment was organized at Camp Chase, Ohio in February 1865, to serve one year. Immediately after muster in the Regiment was ordered to Nashville, Tenn., where it remained for a short time doing garrison duty. From Nashville, it proceeded to Chattanooga, thence to Bridgeport, Alabama, which place it reached about the 21st of March, and was engaged in protecting an important railroad bridge over the Tennessee River. It also guarded the track of the railroad between Bridgeport and Chattanooga, a distance of about thirty miles. On the 25th of July the One Hundred and Eighty Fourth was ordered to Edgefield, for garrison duty, and remained at that place until it was mustered out of service, September 20, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee. Regiment lost during service 1 enlisted man killed and 1 officer and 58 enlisted men by disease. Total 60.
