"These records consist of 4 pages: 3 appear to be from a family
Bible, and the fourth is a simple sheet of paper. My family does not know
which Beedle this Bible belonged to, but, from handwriting & date
ranges, I think it might have been Jesse
(1804-1884) Beedle's.
Entries up to 1844 were
entered in the same script (i.e.- the same person); 2 entries written
in 1852 and 1884 (death entries of Franklin and Jesse
Beedle, respectively) are written by a 2nd person; subsequent entries,
ending in 1913, are written by a 3rd person. For this reason, I suspect
that the 2nd person was one of Jesse's children, and the 3rd
either one of his grandchildren, or possibly Mary Beedle Young,
daughter of Jesse & Sarah, who died in 1922. It appears that the Bible
that these records came from were destroyed by fire, sometime between
1913 and the 1940s. There were several fires in the Beedle family during
that time.
Many of the individuals
listed in these records lived in Deerfield and Turtle Creek townships,
and are buried in the Fellowship,
Lebanon, and South Lebanon
cemeteries.
These records document my Beedle forebears back to Elias Beedle (1783-1846), who moved to Warren county by 1820 (and possibly as early as 1804, based on census information for his son, Jesse), and passed away there in 1846. Family tradition has it that this branch is related to that of William Beedle (his surname has been spelled variously), a Warren county pioneer who established one of the first structures in the county, a blockhouse known as "Bedle's Station," in 1795. I would very much like to find out if these 2 lines are, in fact, related, and if so, how. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I haven't been able to determine where Elias Beedle came from (New Jersey, I suspect). "
